Értekezésének tárgya a Duna algavegetációjának vizsgálata volt. 1950-től haláláig a Tihanyi Biológiai Kutatóintézetben dolgozott. Elsősorban a Balaton mikro-vegetációjának kutatásával, valamint két, a Balatonba ömlő patak, továbbá a tihanyi Belső-tó és egyéb kisebb vizek vizsgálatával foglalkozott. Félszáz tudományos dolgozata jelent meg, többsége az intézet évkönyveiben, továbbá számos hazai és nemzetközi tudományos folyóiratban. Számos munkája kéziratban maradt.
