A szegedi tudományegyetem jogi karán szerzett diplomát. Előbb ügyvédjelölt Sümegen, majd 1937-ben pályázat útján a rendőrség állományába került. Sopron, majd több állomáshely után 1943-ban jogászi munkakörbe Budapestre helyezték. 1945 őszén őrnagyi rendfokozatot kapott. 1950. júniusában menesztették a rendőrségtől. Segéd- majd szakmunkás. A hetvenes évek elejétől a Vigília és a Magyarország c. folyóiratokban, valamint más kiadványokban jelentek meg írásai Sümeg történetéről. Húsz évig tartó, kitartó gyűjtő- és kutatómunka eredménye az 1989-ben megjelent Sümeg évszázadai c. kötet.
